These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of the GomiGuide iOS application (“GomiGuide” or the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. About GomiGuide
GomiGuide provides informational garbage collection schedules and disposal guidance for Tokyo’s 23 special wards. The App is an independent consumer product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by any Japanese national, prefectural, or municipal government.
2. Informational use only — no official advice
Schedule data and disposal guidance in the App are compiled from publicly available municipal sources and may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Collection rules can change without notice (including holidays and temporary suspensions).
Always confirm with your ward’s official website, published notices, or municipal office before relying on the App for any decision that could have legal, financial, or neighbor-related consequences. GomiGuide is not a substitute for official municipal information.
3. License to use the App
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use GomiGuide on Apple devices you own or control, in accordance with the App Store terms and these Terms. You may not copy, modify, distribute, reverse engineer, or create derivative works of the App except as allowed by applicable law.
4. Accounts and optional Sign in with Apple
You can use GomiGuide without creating a named account. Optional Sign in with Apple is offered only to back up and restore preferences. You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping your device secure.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for unlawful purposes
- Attempt to disrupt, scrape at abusive scale, or interfere with App infrastructure
- Misrepresent GomiGuide as an official government service
- Submit abusive, fraudulent, or harmful feedback or content to us
6. Intellectual property
The App’s software, branding, and original content are owned by the GomiGuide developer or its licensors. Municipal names, seals, and official documents remain the property of their respective governments. Third-party trademarks belong to their owners.
7. Third-party services and links
The App may link to official municipal websites or use third-party services (such as Apple and Firebase). Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for third-party sites or services.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT SCHEDULE DATA IS ACCURATE, COMPLETE, OR CURRENT, OR THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP OR RELIANCE ON ITS CONTENT — INCLUDING FINES, MISSED COLLECTIONS, OR DISPUTES WITH NEIGHBORS OR MUNICIPALITIES.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATED TO THE APP IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE APP IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) USD $10.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those places, our liability is limited to the fullest extent allowed by law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the GomiGuide developer from claims arising out of your misuse of the App or your violation of these Terms, to the extent permitted by law.
11. Changes and termination
We may update these Terms, change App features, or discontinue the App at any time. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend or end access if you violate these Terms.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protections in your place of residence apply. Courts in Japan have non-exclusive jurisdiction, subject to those mandatory protections.

14. Apple-required notice
You acknowledge that these Terms are between you and the GomiGuide developer only, not Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content. In the event of a failure of the App to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price (if any); to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple is not responsible for addressing claims relating to the App or your possession/use of it, including product liability, legal/regulatory claims, or intellectual property claims. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.
